The Baroque Ensemble "Transylvania" was founded in 1995 by István Nagy, by a rather fortunate accident. What had been intended to be a concert for friends only soon developed into a highly successful ensemble invited to The Netherlands for a series of benefit concerts meant to support social projects in Romania.
By now the Baroque Ensemble "Transylvania" has already had several successful tours in The Netherlands, also performing in places such as the Concertgebouw (with direct transmission by AVRO Radio) and the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, the "Gasteig" in Munich or at the Early Music Festival "Landshuter Hofmusiktage". The ensemble has also played in Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Hungary, Moldavia and, of course, Romania, totalizing more than 300 public appearances and three CD recordings until now.
